Prior to commencing the project we spoke to several builders within the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area. Having worked in the property industry over the past 12 years I have seen many projects during that time. Many of those a success and many horror stories of builders which made us both very nervous.
Our main concerns arose around projects not finishing on time, builders including hidden costs and exorbitant fees for variations. To the extent that the client/builder relationship would would be non-existent at the end on the project.
These things we very important to us and front of mind when selecting a builder. We were referred to Stuart by several colleagues and were also following his projects closely.
After our first meeting with Stuart we both knew he was the builder for us. He made us feel at ease and was able to offer us a very detailed quotation and timeline. This was indispensable to us as we were able to budget our finances and plan our life around the project. Stuart’s planning system allows him to schedule to the day of what is being delivered and how long certain parts of he project will take.
As a background, our home was a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom 1920s weatherboard bungalow located on a sloping site in Lambton full of asbestos.
With the help of Stuart and his team they were able to transform this into a two level 4 bedroom 3 bathroom 3 living home. Quite simply, this is a beautiful home to live in.
Given the size of this project it was wasn’t without its hiccups and issues along the way.
Stuart was able to offer clear guidance and solutions. We were in constant contact, sometimes several calls per day. His knowledge and experience in the building industry allowed us to plan ahead with little interruption.
For the majority of the project we were living onsite. The site was always clean and safe, all his staff we very professional and polite to us and our neighbours. Several neighbours commented on how professional his team were and if there was going to be any disruption he would let them know ahead of time.
Stuart’s vision and eye for detail was crucial, he would offer his input throughout the project to ensure the finished product was faultless.
Our project was finished ahead of time and on budget.
We would have no hesitation in referring Stuart and his team to family and friends in the future.
